Residential Treatment Program

Chicago Lakeshore Hospital is a premiere inpatient rehabilitation facility for patients 18 years or older with a dual diagnosis. A dual diagnosis is evidence of both substance abuse and a persistent behavioral health issue. Individuals with a dual diagnosis may find it more difficult to achieve and maintain sobriety with two concurrent disorders. Our intensive inpatient treatment process aims to helps individuals understand the link between their substance abuse and behavioral health for sustainable, long-term healing.

Our hospital offers a safe and monitored environment, a comfortable atmosphere, and an experienced and caring staff. We are dedicated to assessing and stabilizing adults who are experiencing psychological symptoms in addition to their struggle with substance abuse. Patients with dual diagnosis may find that one influences the other; for example, their substance abuse may exacerbate or reveal a symptom, or they may use substances to cope with their struggles. Our program addresses these.

Our inpatient program is designed to reduce and manage the patient’s symptoms and, ultimately, help the patient understand and manage their illness. Every patient is equipped with their individual treatment team to develop a unique treatment process. Over time, your treatment team will oversee your progress into outpatient treatment and community services. Every treatment team is comprised of professionals, including a psychiatrist and a chemical dependency counselor.

With help from their integrated treatment team, patients are guided through an individual treatment plan that includes monitored detoxification, group and family counseling, guided socialization, and expressive therapy. We want to help patients develop the necessary coping skills to address their latent issues directly for optimal success post treatment.
