Child and Adolescent Inpatient Program Overview
Chicago Lakeshore Hospital's Child and Adolescent program is separated into two different groups to address the needs of different age groups. The Child program (both inpatient and outpatient) is for children ages 3 to 12, while our Adolescent group is for teenagers between ages 13 and 17.
Treatment programs are held at our state-of-the-art Children's Pavillion facility north of downtown Chicago. In addition to a traditional, medical approach to patient care, we teach children how to:
- Express themselves in an appropriate, healthy way
- Respect themselves and others
- Take responsibility for their behavior
We encourage the patient's family to get involved in the treatment process in order to educate the family, and ensure a smooth transition home post treatment.
Throughout the program children learn valuable problem-solving skills, gain insight into how their behavior affects themsevles and others, and gives them a sense of control over their lives. We carefully track each patient's progress toward their goals to ensure they meet the objectives of their treatment plan. The length of treatment will depend on the patient's individual needs and goals, as determined by our multi-disciplinary team of health professionals.
