Valeo Pride Inpatient Programs for LGTBQ Patients

Valeo Pride Programs for LGBTQ Patients in Chicago

Individuals in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Questioning (LGBTQ) community often face a number of unjust issues: social stigma, abuse, harassment, and sometimes even family rejection. It’s no wonder they are three times more likely to suffer from behavioral and mental health issues than those who don’t belong to the LGBTQ community. But there is hope.

Chicago Lakeshore Hospital is a leading provider of behavioral health services to LGBTQ patients in the Chicago area. Our Valeo Pride inpatient program is designed to provide compassionate care along with innovative clinical services.

Valeo Pride Inpatient Program Overview

Valeo Pride is a safe, judgment free program designed to treat LGBTQ patients suffering from depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, alcohol and/or drug abuse, and other harmful behaviors.

Our multi-disciplinary team of board-certified psychiatrists, addictionologists, pharmacists/psychopharmacologists, and dieticians assess each patient to create a treatment plan that addresses the patient’s individual needs. We take into consideration the common issues facing the LGBTQ community while designing each patient’s care plan. Our environment is a place where patients are free from the stigma and prejudices they encounter outside the hospital’s doors.

The Valeo Pride program includes the following:

  • Individual and small group treatment in a safe and culturally competent environment
  • Significant other/family involvement with the patient’s treatment
  • Dual diagnosis—mental health and substance abuse treatment
  • Care coordination with a primary care physician, outpatient psychiatrist, and/or outpatient therapist

Our Valeo Pride Intensive Outpatient Program is a specialized program for individuals with a psychiatric or dual diagnosis. This may include both behavioral disorders, and chemical addictions. Patients who enter this program typically transition from the Valeo inpatient program or are referred from traditional outpatient programs by one of our community partners.

Diverse, therapeutic programs are what separate the Valeo mental health programs at Chicago Lakeshore Hospital from other LGBTQ health programs. Download our brochure for more information on Valeo in Chicago.
